“What Is Faith?”
“What’s Up my Brother?”
I was walking down a common road, a simple day like any other
When a black man said to me, “Whassup, my brother?”
At first I gave no thought to what the guy had said
But then I saw the light, and the truth in my head
Different colors to the eye
But why the discord? I don’t know why
Racism is the devil’s lie
We must overcome; it’s worth the try
The Father creator made us each a certain way
Two different forms from one piece of clay
He made him black; he made me white
He made him dark; he made me light
But we both came from the same ancestral mother
It’s time to remember, we are each the other’s brother
God the Father, God the Son
Creator and redeemer loving each and every one
God the Holy Ghost favors neither one the most
Together when we reach Heaven
Side by side we’ll meet the Host
Combined on this Earth we compose the human race
We can’t judge a man by the color of his face
We are each the same, no different from the other
Which was emphasized today when a black man called me brother!
How do we know peace, when the peace cannot be seen?
How do we describe salvation, when you don’t know what we mean?
How do we know truth, when proof has not been shown?
How can our flesh be weak, yet our beliefs as tough as stone?
The answer is faith
What is faith?
It’s being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we cannot see
Trusting the promise of a faithful God who died and rose for you and me
What is faith?
Open your heart and you will believe; ask and you shall receive
Seek and you shall achieve; invite Him in and He will not leave
What is faith?
Yeshua is our shepard and our choice; we are His sheep and we hear His voice
He gives us comfort and we rejoice
We are saved by the blood He spilled
By the Holy Spirit we are filled; we follow Him as the Lord God willed
What is faith?
Abram followed God to a foriegn land
And God made a nation from a righteous man
What is faith?
God parted the waters and the Israelites crossed
But Pharoah denied God, so his army was lost
What is faith?
The seven priests of Joshua’s army made a mighty sound
They marched seven times and the walls came down
What is faith?
Goliath mocked David yet David slew
The boy recieved strength from the faith he knew
What is faith?
Daniel kept his faith without a pause
And an angel in the den closed the lion’s jaws
What is faith?
Saul strove to crush belief in the Messiah of the Jews
Until he met the King of Israel, and strove to spread the news
What is faith?
No eye has seen,
No ear has heard,
No mind can fathom,
What God has in store for those who await His Son’s return
But we study and we learn,
Of God’s kingdom which we yearn
An inheritance we will receive by grace; a gift we cannot earn
What is faith?
He strengthens and restores us with His holy healing hand
But without trust in Him, you would not understand
When we’re in danger, God is no stranger
He’s always beside us; we’re never alone
He’s the author of our faith;
The King is on His throne.
There is only one true king
The king is our Lord
His love gives us strength
His strength is his sword
God the Father, God the Son
Through the sword of God
All battles are won
God the Holy Spirit
He gives us our relief
His sword gives us strength
And cuts through unbelief
He's the everlasting Father, the almighty king
Let all of creation praise Him and sing
The sword of God brings us victory
He sent His Son to the cross to give us liberty
We were slaves to our sin until Christ set us free
When you've taken all you can from the Enemy
And you cry out in defeat, Just let me be!
Turn to the Man from Galilee
He died not in defeat but victory
He died on the cross to bring liberty
He paid for our sins, He died for you and me
Let all of us praise Him, a joyous jubilee
The Lord is knocking, He's knocking on your door
The door is still closed, what are you waiting for?
Accept by faith what the Lord has to offer
Be a believer, and not a scoffer
The deeds of the Devil will all be brought to light
And all those who follow him will fight a losing fight
All the lost who turned from God will suffer endless plight
But the faithful ones who await the Lord will see a blessed sight
And live eternal life, where there's never any night
All this will be accomplished
When He reveals His awesome might
The sword of God will defeat the enemy's plan
The Lord is God, against Him who can stand?
We can stand on His word, the word of the Lord
The Lord gives us strength, the strength of His sword
It’s just you and I on this silent night
We’re together again; we survived the plight
There are gifts under the tree and a crackling fire
You made a wonderful dinner, a big holiday feast
The war is over; thank God we have peace
We had been brought together by fate
Then separated by a world filled with hate
The dark days of battle were scary and gray
But the dark days are past on this Christmas holiday
I remembered you always through my fear and frustration
You were my inspiration in a war-torn situation
All around me were the sounds of gunfire and shelling
I had no way of telling, if I’d ever see you again
The air smelled of death and the blood poured like rain
It was a contest and a conquest with nothing to gain
Thank God the war is over, I’m away from the pain
It’s time to give thanks and pray
It’s a holiday, holiday
I remember my first battle, when I shot a man face to face
All that shooting and killing, God what a waste
Maybe he had a wife like mine, who loved him the same way
Now they’ll never be together for a Christmas holiday
Someday soon we’ll have a son and a daughter
I hope by then I’ll be over the slaughter
We’ll be a family, and we’ll be together
On every Christmas let’s pray for peace and snowy weather
For all that we need, let us earnestly pray
And thank the Lord this Christmas holiday
